Tenor Michael Berner was born in Sindelfingen.

He started is career in musics with a boys choir, the Stuttgarter Hymnus-Chorknaben. There he received his first singing classes. He studied singing at University of Music Karlsruhe under Prof. Klaus-Dieter Kern.

2007 he completed his degrees as concert singer and opera singer with distinction. During his studies he was a member of the opera studio at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe.

From 2008 to 2012 he was a member of ensemble of Theater Regensburg. There he made his role debuts as Hauptmann in “Wozzeck”, Basilio in “Le nozze di Figaro”, Male Chorus in “The Rape of Lucretia”, Pong in “Turandot” and as Knusperhexe in “Hänsel und Gretel”.

Since season 2012/2013 he has been engaged at Gerhart Hauptmann Theater Görlitz. He appeared there in Mozart’s “Le nozze die Figaro” and Zemlinsky’s “Kleider machen Leute”.

Guest engagements have taken him to Megaron in Athens, Berliner Kammeroper, Opernfestspiele Heidenheim, International Mozart Festival “Mozartina” in Gdansk, Staatstheater Kassel, Theater Lübeck, internationale Gluck-Opern-Festspiele at Staatstheater Nuremberg and Prinzregententheater Munich.

He is well a well known concert and oratorio singer, too. He appears regularly as guest at Bachkantaten at Predigerkirche Basel as well as at bach:vokal at Stiftskirche Stuttgart.

In season 2013/2014 he will appear in “Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor” of Otto Nicolai at Theater Görlitz and in “Das Land des Lächelns” of Franz Lehar at Theater Lübeck.
